Let's gather to honor the impressive turnout of African American suffragists who voted in 1920!

This EVENT is free and open to the public.

Attendees are encouraged to wear ‘Suffragist white’ attire or wear purple and white attire to honor the National Association of Colored Women (NACW).

Following a celebratory speech at Antioch Park, attendees will participate in a processional across the street to The Heritage Society, at 1100 Bagby.

A reception with light refreshments at the museum’s courtyard (Connally Plaza) and small tours of the suffrage exhibit at The Heritage Society’s museum will be available.  Special performances by Meta-Four Houston Poetry Slam Team will be in the courtyard.  The museum will remain open until 6:30 PM.

We are graciously encouraging wearing masks, although it is not mandatory, for everyone’s health, safety, and comfort.. An organization will have a vaccination shot station available at Antioch Park.

Parking is available for free at The Heritage Society’s parking lot.  Free parking is available at Allen Center Garage, 300 Clay St., across from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church (free with validation ticket only, Antioch Church volunteers at event will provide).
