AN EVENING OF HERITAGE - 2024
We are excited to bring you another Evening of Heritage. Please join our chairs, Bill Stubbs and Kurt Grether, well known Houstonians and preservationists, for an evening that will celebrate the year 1954 – the year The Heritage Society was founded and the year that Houston realized its one millionth resident! Dr. Boles will discuss the many ways that Houston and The Heritage Society began their “Years of Expansion!”
Dr. John Boles has been with Rice University since 1981, and also taught at Towson State College and Tulane University before coming to Rice. Dr. Boles was the NEH Fellow in Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University in 1976-1977 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Rice in 1965 and his Doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1967.
Leading our evening will be a Houston Icon, Robert T. Sakowitz as Master of Ceremonies.
To top it all off is dinner at another Houston Icon – Brennan’s Restaurant! Preservation Houston recognized the restaurant’s post-Hurricane Ike recovery with a special Good Brick Award. Nation’s Restaurant News inducted Brennan’s Houston into the Fine Dining Hall of Fame. See their historical timeline HERE.
