The Very Long Life of Alice's Playhouse; A Survivor's Story book by Andrea White
The story of the Baker Family Playhouse built by Captain Baker in 1893. It moved with the family five times. It is a delightful story from the perspective of the Playhouse as it moved from location to location and all it endured. The Baker Family Playhouse is now located at The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park and is likely the oldest standing children’s playhouse in Texas. Former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, Captain Baker’s grandson stored elk heads in the playhouse.
The author, Andrea White, is the former Mayor of Houston’s wife (Bill White) and is passionate about Houston’s history.
