1891 ST. JOHN CHURCH

Capacity: 65 (includes wedding party)

Cost: $1,500 (4-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $2,500 (4-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.    

St. John Church is a one-room church with elements of the Gothic Revival style of architecture evident in the arched windows and shutters. Unique to St. John Church and the German tradition in Texas is the coved ceiling with its rounded corners. The historic building is a museum with permanent collections, and has air-conditioning and heat for climate control. 

Rental includes a one-hour rehearsal the day prior to the event and use of The Heritage Society parking lot for guest parking. Rental is for a four-hour time period, which includes time for any decorating, guest arrival, ceremony, photography, and clean-up.


BANDSTAND

Capacity: Expansive

Cost: $250 (2-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $450 (2-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

The Bandstand was constructed c. 1966 to replicate the original bandstand of Sam Houston Park that was constructed in 1900. The bandstand was moved in 2013 to its location next to St. John Church. It has views of most of the historic homes in Sam Houston Park and has an optional backdrop of the Downtown skyline depending on the position/angle of your ceremony. It is ideal for musicians, community gatherings, company speeches, weddings, marriage proposals, promposals, quinceaneras, sweet 16 parties, and family reunions. It is easy to social distance in this area as well.

CONNALLY PLAZA

Capacity: 250 (seated dinner) / 300 (reception)

Cost: $1,000 (4-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $2,500 (4-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

This brick and concrete outdoor patio is available for receptions, corporate lunches, cocktail parties or seated dinners. The backdrop of Houston's skyline against the open green space of Sam Houston Park and The Heritage Society campus is impressive and unique to Houston. The landscaped brick patio is dedicated to the memory of Texas governor John Connally. It has a magnificent oak tree and plantings with views of the 1823 Old Place and 1850 Nichols-Rice-Cherry House. Rental includes use of The Heritage Society parking lot for guest parking and use of the kitchen for caterer use. Tenting is optional


1847 KELLUM-NOBLE HOUSE

Entertain in the oldest building on its original foundation in Houston. The Kellum-Noble House is a Preservation Houston 2021 Good Brick Winner. The Heritage Society was founded in 1954 to save Kellum-Noble, and its place in history, for future generations.

1850 NICHOLS-RICE-CHERRY HOUSE

Entertain in the Nichols-Rice-Cherry House that overlooks Jane Ellen’s Tree and the Connally Plaza. Once owned by William Marsh Rice, this antebellum home is furnished to reflect the Rice’s occupancy in the mid-nineteenth century. Perfect for hosting an executive dinner or dinner party.


1905 STAITI HOUSE

Entertain in the Staiti House that has views of St. John Church and Sam Houston Park’s enormous green lawns.

TEA ROOM

Capacity: 75 seated dinner/ 100 reception

Cost: $200 (1-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $250 (1-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

The Tea Room is a long room with columns and hardwood floors. It is approximately 1,300 square feet. It is located in the Long Row Building, decorated with changing photographs and artwork. This unique space is perfect for business meetings, lectures, presentations, small dinners and cocktail receptions. Rental includes use of The Heritage Society parking lot for guest parking. Stage area is also available. Area: approximately 1,300 sq. ft.


JANE ELLEN’S TREE

Capacity: 50

Cost: $250 (2 hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $350 ( 2 hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

Many marriage proposals and engagements have happened here over the years. This majestic oak tree is a beautiful place for baby gender reveals and promposals too. Jane Ellen served in many capacities including as Chairman, Executive Director, and Board Member for The Heritage Society for more than three decades. Connally Plaza, right by Jane Ellen’s Tree, is also available for rental as an outdoor reception area.

STAITI GARDEN

Capacity: 100

Cost: $250 (2 hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $350 (2 hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

Entertain at the Staiti Garden which is behind the Staiti House. The Staiti House, built as a speculative home in the Westmoreland Addition, was purchased by oil pioneer Henry T. Staiti in 1905. The Staiti House was moved into Sam Houston Park in 1986. It is furnished to depict the lifestyle of the Staiti family in the early 20th century. The Staiti’s used the garden for many family gatherings and socials.


U.S.S. HOUSTON

Capacity: 200

Cost: $250 (4-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $500 (4-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

The U.S.S. Houston Monument incorporates the brass ship’s bell recovered from the wreck of the U.S.S. Houston, which has been placed atop a granite pedestal. It is the scene of an annual commemoration of the sailors who died in the sinking of the Houston in the Sunda Strait, March 1, 1942, by the Japanese Navy. Ideal for military ceremonies and veteran events to honor the brave and the patriotic.

BAGBY STREET FRONT PATIO

Capacity: 150

Cost: $100 (1-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $250 (1-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

Location, location, location…the front patio area with a Downtown Houston skyline view is ideal for corporate events and celebrations. The front patio area is a prime location for vendors who want to be highly visible. In the backdrop of the patio is the reconstructed long-frame building on Main Street in the 1830s known as the Long Row, a familiar landmark and a center of business activity. It was reconstructed in 1967 by The Heritage Society.

MUSEUM GALLERY

Capacity: 200 (reception only) 

Cost: $1,000 (4-hour rental) Mon. - Fri. $2,500 (8-hour rental) Sat. - Sun.

Exhibition space consisting of a main gallery, replica 19th century general store, a 1911 Ford Model T, and photographs of Houston taken between 1930 and 1980.  Availability is dependent upon the layout of temporary exhibitions. Area: approximately 3,000 sq. ft.

Rental includes use of The Heritage Society parking lot for guest parking and use of the kitchen for caterer use (if applicable).
